Suggestion Box Blog
We hope to have participation (topic ideas and written comments on others’ ideas) from parents, students, staff, prospective applicants and alumni. We’re aware of no other NYC school giving this a try.

Unlike the existing one way nature of our overall web site, this Blog section is an opportunity to make the communication move in both directions without moving directly to a free for all discussion group. We must remember that IS 239 is a NYC public school subject to oversight.

The following topics are off limits for the foreseeable future (Chancellor/DOE regulations and policies, the Admissions process which we do not control, and negative content with respect to any individuals. This Suggestion Box Blog is geared towards facilitating positive changes that are within the school’s jurisdiction given the budgetary and regulatory restrictions we face.

Note that this is a Moderated Blog. Your posts go to our webmaster for approval, typically within hours. If the proposed comment violated the spirit of the restrictions mentioned above and if you left your optional email address where indicated, you’ll receive a reply but your post won’t appear on the Blog, at least not without further scrutiny. Additionally, since this is a school, we will edit postings that are generally acceptable but have obvious spelling errors or significant problems with grammar and usage. We’ll try hard not to change the “flavor” of what you’re trying to say.

Once the blog generates enough traffic, we’ll couple it to another built-in feature that allows us to do surveys and generate results so again, the Twain community can make its feelings known more effectively.

This will be a work in progress for the foreseeable future so please treat us gently in these early stages. And please note that our faculty will always gladly accept your emails and/or phone calls about those matters you feel strongly about. This is ANOTHER means of communication, not a replacement for everything currently in place and it will only be valuable if enough of the Twain community uses it wisely.
